چکیده

The primary goal of the PHENIX collaboration is the detection and characterization of the quark-gluon plasma. One of the proposed signatures of the quark-gluon plasma is the suppression of J/ production 1. We will outline the capabilities of the PHENIX experiment for measuring leptonic decays of the J/ and other quarkonium states.

φ- meson Production at RHIC energies using the PHENIX Detector

Light vector mesons are among the most informative probes to understand the strongly coupled Quark Gluon Plasma created at RHIC. The suppression of light mesons at high transverse momentum, compared to expectations from scaled p + p results, reflects the properties of the strongly interacting matter formed. The φ-meson is one of the probes whose systematic measurement in p + p, d + Au and Au + ...

Low-mass dielectrons from the PHENIX experiment at RHIC

The production of the low-mass dielectrons is considered to be a powerful tool to study the properties of the hot and dense matter created in the ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions. We present the preliminary results on the first measurements of the low-mass dielectron continuum in Au+ Au collisions and the φ meson production measured in Au+Au and d+Au collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV perfor...

Low Mass Vector Meson Measurements via Di-electrons at RHIC by the PHENIX Experiment

The PHENIX experiment at RHIC has measured ω and φ mesons in p+ p, d+Au and Au+Au collisions at √ s NN = 200 GeV via both hadronic and di-electron decay channels. The transverse momentum spectra as measured in different decay modes and at different centralities are shown

Electrons and Heavy Quark at PHENIX Detector

Measurement of heavy quark production is one of the tools used to investigate the matter produced in extremely hot and dense conditions in heavy ion collisions at RHIC. The PHENIX experiment has measured mid-rapidity transverse momentum spectra of electrons. After subtracting the photonic background contribution, the electron spectra are mainly due to semileptonic decays of hadrons containing h...

Neutral Meson Measurement at Phenix

Measurements from the RHIC experiments show strong suppression of high-pT hadrons in central Au+Au collisions. The PHENIX experiment has observed strong suppression of π0 and charged hadron yields in central Au+Au collisions for pT > 5 GeV/c regardless of pT and particle species. The observed suppression is interpreted in terms of energy loss of quarks in a high-density medium. The PHENIX Year-...
